Redneck fun!

Many many of my childhood days were spent exactly like this!  Some would call this Redneck fun!  No swimsuits?!?!  Well we are in the mountains take off your clothes and play in the pond!!!!  It was so fun.  Levi had to leave his shoes on and it doesn't get cooler than that!  They had fun wading, jumping out of the culvert, and of course throwing rocks!  Cabin Creek is one of my most favorite places in the world and am so glad I am getting to raise my boys with a little bit of "redneck" fun!

Soccer

I am officially a "Soccer Mom!"  Levi informed me last night that my car is a "Soccer Car."  A couple girls in our ward decided that we had enough kids in the ward to have our own little soccer team.  Which they are brilliant because it costs about $150.00 to join the city leagues.  This was perfect.  They started out with fun games such as, "Red light, Green light,"  and some kicking the ball drills.  Then they attempted a game and it was so funny as half of the kids were in tears in the first 2 minutes due to not sharing the ball and not even sure what was going on.  Levi got mad and stomped behind a tree.  When I asked him what was wrong he said, "Well I am the fastest!"  Not really sure what that had to do with anything but it was funny!  The game only lasted maybe 5 minutes before they went back to "Red light, Green light."  It was fun and Levi had a good time.  Here are a couple of pictures I took.  Sorry no video!

Finished Projects

Yes... I have a new hobby and I love it!  These are my finished baby quilts that I finally got to give away this past weekend while in Utah visiting new babies!!!  We had so much fun visiting and seeing everyone!
This quilt was for Jen and Dustin's little baby girl, Lucy!  I love the pinwheels!!!!

This is "A Little Bit of Cowboy" for Jeremy and Terra's new baby boy Tate!
This pink and brown quilt is for sweet Cali, Jared and Jenni's new baby girl!  I am already having baby withdrawls!!!
This is the best we could come up with while taking pictures of Cali, isn't she the cutest?!?!  I forgot to get pictures of the other two babies with there's so next time I see them I will get one for sure!

Icy River Rescue in Hot Sulpher Springs, CO

If you live in Denver, or if you're in my family, you may know by now that I have quit my day job and have become a news reporter!  Well, not really, but I did report a story and got video footage that ended up on many news channels on the evening news and online news stories across the U.S.

On Saturday (3/24/12) we heading out of Hot Sulphur Springs, CO to go on a picnic at Beaver Creek when we saw firetrucks driving through town (small town) heading towards the river.  We pulled over in the canyon to see what had happened and saw two kids standing on a floating chunk of ice with a fireman nearby who had crawled out on the ice to try and get the kids.  When I saw the kids on the ice, I grabbed my camera and caught the video of the rescue below.

If you want to read the full story of how a fisherman jumped in to save the first of the three kids, and how it all happened, check out these links below.  The story was published by more news stations, and some outside of Denver, but these are the ones that used my video (and gave me credit!).

Our Brave Little Levi

With the blessing of Dustin and Jen's new baby (Lucy) came a wild and crazy weekend. We saw our little Levi show us he's not so little anymore! Here are some of the crazy things we did - some were just too crazy to put on a blog post! :)

Thursday night Luke wanted to show of for the camera by walking!

On Friday morning we went down to Corey and Maria's to ride their go-cart that Santa brought them for Christmas.
Since the kids were already outside and didn't get enough adrenaline rush from the go-cart they asked Uncle Jeremy to pull them on the sled with the snowmobile! Levi wanted to drive, but some of the kids on the sled objected, so he sat up front with Uncle Jeremy.

Sledding still wasn't enough so we all decided to go skiing with the kids. Levi had never been so Alicia and I were worried that he'd be scared and would get cold too fast. Little did we know, but he loved it! In fact, after about 3 runs on the kiddie hill with the "Magic Carpet" he wanted to graduate to the chair lift and the bunnie hill!

Daddy was pretty proud that Levi loved skiing and did great on the bunny hill!
Luke, on the other hand, wasn't so happy that he didn't get to ski already. He didn't understand why he had to be able to walk well before he could ski!

Pfew! What a day right? Go-carts, sledding, AND skiing!? But no, that wasn't enough! All the kids wanted to go to the YMCA and play basketball, ride bikes, and roller skate. This was another first for Levi, which is why he surprised me when he said he wanted to try roller skating. He soon found that skiing was actually easier because skis are easier to stand on and the snow is softer than the hardwood floor! Ha ha.

Luke thinks he's a pretty cool dude!

On Saturday we came back to Denver to find that while we got no snow up in the mountains, Denver got 17 inches! We were all snowed out from the previous day (see above) and decided it would be fun to go to the Broomfield Rec Center pool. It was pretty cool with two big water slides (one for inner tubes), a lazy river, a family friendly hot tub (where the picture below was taken), and a fun kids area.

Here's the lazy river!

Here's Levi starting off with the kids slide (just to warm up).

Since Levi was still warming up on the kids slide, I took Austin for a ride on one of the big slides.  I can't tell if he liked it :)

Levi finally went on the big slide and LOVED it!  Here he is going with Alicia.

Here is the quilt I made for her! Sorry to all those babies who were born before my hobby really began! Maybe someday I will make quilts for all the babies who were born before my hobby really began! I am excited with how it turned out!

Wicked!

Yes!!! I finally got to see Wicked! I can mark that off my bucket list but will be going back to
see it again! It was so fun and it was amazing! We went for our 7th Anniversary thanks Josh!!! We had the best day thanks to Susi, Tally, and Chloe for watching the boys!!! Shell, Trent, Josh, and I, took Dani and Jose to Titos for lunch and then to the airport. We then went to the Getty Museum over looking LA. And there was an amazing sunset! It was a cool museum that you ride a train too. It was really fun
just hanging out with Shell and Trent and no kids for a few hours!

Great Grammie

We were so excited to get to go and see Grammie and Uncle Bob the day after Christmas. We had so much fun visiting and giving them Christmas Gifts. It was Luke's first time meeting his Great Grammie and Great Uncle! Grammie was so sweet and let all of us girls go through her jewelry box and get a piece of jewelry. It was really fun and a wonderful keepsake. As well as a wonderful memory I will always treasure. All of you girls that weren't there next time you go she said you could have one too... but you will probably have to remind her as she probably won't remember she gave us any either!Grammie going through her jewelry with us.

The boys will always be boys, no matter whose house we are at. Levi and Darien wrestling away.

Christmas Day Continued....

These pictures are in reverse order... but we spent the rest of the day at Grr and Papa's house for Christmas. It was so fun we were only missing two families out of all 8! We missed you Jared and Jenni, and Adam and Bekah!
Levi LOVED playing with his cousins... and asks about them daily! We were so happy that they all got along so well and got to spend so much time together!
"Grr" a.ka. Mom opening her quilt that I made for her.
Papa opening his. I think he forgave me for cutting up 14 of his t-shirts.
Luke trying on Levi's batman mask!
Tally also loved her new BYU blanket!
All the boys in there new Batman/ Superman capes. Tally made Darien's, I had fun teaching her how. Good job Tally!
All the cousins in the family! (we are still missing one, Cali, but she will be here in a couple of months still!) All the cousins plus Danielle, Ryan, and Josh.
That is a bunch of cute kids!!!
Me with the girls!
Here we are with Tristan and Luke... Tristan is 6 months younger than Luke but you wouldn't know it by how big he is!
